The Memory Game

This is my latest PowerPoint based activity. It's the e-version of the classic memory game. The one where you have to turn over the cards to find a matching pair.

There are numerous ways to use this game in class. The classic way is to have matching words or pictures, however you could also have word and definition pairs, split words into halves, have a question and answer format or even have more than two matching cards.

To Setup
Begin by holding down the CTRL key and then click on each of the numbered squares to select them all. Once they are all selected, right click on them and then click send to back. This will reveal the underlying cards so you can edit them. Once complete, repeat the selection with these cards and then send them to the back (so the numbered cards are back in front).

To Play
Split the class into two teams. Begin the PowerPoint (F5) and have 2 children from the first team choose a number each. Click the numbers to reveal those cards. If they are a match, then leave the pair open and click on the yellow score button at the bottom right or left of the screen to add a point. Continue until all the pairs have been found. Encourage teamweork and strategy to help remeber the placement of cards.

Note: You can help the children out at the start of the game by clicking the 'show all' button to reveal them all.
